Hi everyone, I’m Maggie the Dog and I’m looking for a Vet to work at my lovely independent practice in Liverpool.

My mum has, despite telling me I’m enough, decided to get pregnant. I’m not overly impressed as this means less attention on me although there has been mention of benefits such as more crumbs and extra walks to help my new human sleep.

We are not just looking for maternity cover but a permanent position. I am looking for a new vet to work either 3 or 4 days a week. My mum will come back to work, but we know there will be enough work for all of us when she does as the practice is still steadily and consistently growing.

My practice is a beautifully refurbished small animal practice in leafy South Liverpool. We are also a membership only practice as we believe in creating long-lasting bonded relationships and that every animal should get the continuity of care that I get.

I have collected lots of friendly people who look after me and the other animals in our care who provide clear communication and contextualised care. We have an experienced and dedicated nursing and client care team that support our vets with their knowledge, wisdom and wit and are an essential part of our approachable team.

The workload is split fairly amongst my whole vet team, including my owners (the practice owners), with continuity of patient and client care at the forefront of what we do. Our clients know that the rest of the team are human and treat us all with kindness and respect.

We have separate areas for cats and rabbits as they smell great, but they don’t like having their bums sniffed like my friends do. My team are also dedicated to the environmentally minded and have achieved Green status with IIE.

Interests are encouraged (I love balls!); we currently have visiting specialists for some of our ultrasonography, cardiology, orthopaedics and soft-tissue surgery so there is the case load available for someone with one of these interests or a fantastic knowledge base to support case workups. Also happy to support a consult only role (the right human is the most important thing to me).

We are based in the heart of a lovely community and are surrounded by green parks and independent eateries!

Work-life balance is so important and breaks throughout the day are, too. These are all factored into our rota giving you time to think about cases, discuss those cases that niggle your brain or have a cup of tea and chat with the team. My team have regular well-being meetings to ensure we are supporting your work-life balance as best we can.

I get paid in snuggles and biscuits, but my humans and I know that you would like to know about the package:

-Full time position - 4-day week (set day off each week) or part time position - 3d per week

-1 in 4 Saturday mornings 8.30-1.30pm

-No out of hours cover or bank holiday cover – this is covered by VetsNow

-6.6 weeks holiday inclusive of bank holidays (pro rata)

-CPD allowance: 3 days and £1500 per annum (negotiable and certificates encouraged)

-RCVS and BVA fees paid

-Staff discount and cycle to work scheme

-Salary – Commensurate with skills and experience. Consult only roles considered too.

-Range £40,000 - £65,000

If you think this would be a good match for you then please contact us and come and meet me for belly rubs.
